overview
Responsibilities
When the Software Engineering Institute hosted events, including FloCon, I lead and participated in all facets of the process from ideation to delivery, I took care to deliver high quality materials to best represent the institute.
role
Creative Lead, Multimedia Designer
I reported to the event director to determine requirements, brainstorm ideas, review visuals, and request approval.
pitch deck
To begin the design process, I started by researching the event’s target audience. Defining attendees enabled informed design decisions.
After determining the who’s and the what’s I continued on to the visual design. I searched for imagery pertaining to the topic and combined it with our branding, taking care to maintain the brand identity. After assembling imagery and a few mockups, I presented my ideas to the stakeholders and upon making a decision on the theme, the design team.
collateral
After determining the looks, I collaborated with the content writing and events teams to create a deliverables map of materials we would be distributing. Mapping out the variety of collateral in a visual way helped keep teams synchronized. Once designs were completed, the map assured consistency by assembling all the deliverables in one place.
The deliverables map boasted every individual piece intended to reach our audience.
merch and deliverables
Once content and materials were decided on, I continued on to the production process. Print deliverables were produced in house or through the campus print service. I was very involved with the print process and produced and assembled a majority of the basic print deliverables; info sheets, pamphlets, brochures, etc.
I communicated directly with merchandise and promotional product contractors to produce booths, fabrications, promotional products and more. I became well versed in print and production techniques and familiarized myself with the logistics.
